Silvia Purcarin is an insurance defence lawyer in Brownlee LLP’s Vancouver office. She practises in the areas of personal injury, motor vehicle claims, occupiers’ liability, professional negligence, and property damage. Her primary focus is personal injury litigation.
Silvia has defended insurers and their insureds in bodily injury, property damage, and professional negligence claims, and has acted in multi-party litigation involving fire losses.
She has resolved a wide range of claims through practical negotiation and mediation.
Silvia has written on several topics, including loss of housekeeping capacity, third-party claims in British Columbia, slip-and-fall risk management, and evidentiary standards in negligence actions.
She completed her BA in Criminology at Simon Fraser University in 2009 and earned her LLB from The University of Law in 2012. She was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2017. Silvia is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia, the Canadian Bar Association, and Canadian Defence Lawyers. She volunteers as a judge for the CBA’s Barry Sullivan Law Cup.
