Before joining Brownlee LLP in the spring of 2022, Neil Zimmerman served as an in-house insurance litigation lawyer for a major Canadian insurance company. Over the years, Neil has honed his expertise in Canadian insurance law and municipal defense, representing insurers and municipalities across Alberta. His extensive experience has provided him with a deep understanding of the unique legal challenges that municipalities and insurers face.

A dedicated legal professional with a proven track record in insurance litigation and municipal defense, Neil is committed to delivering exceptional representation.

He has appeared before both the Alberta Court of Justice and the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta, where he excels in the art of legal reasoning, researching, and composing persuasive submissions for court.

Neil’s litigation practice spans a wide range of claims, including liability, property damage, personal injury, and professional indemnity matters. His work in municipal defense includes representing local governments, navigating issues related to public liability, infrastructure failures, and risk management strategies. He takes pride in crafting legal strategies that address complex disputes while minimizing risk for his clients.

Away from work, Neil enjoys riding his bike along Calgary’s river pathways and on the trails around Banff and Canmore. He also enjoys dining at a variety of new and different restaurants across the city.
