After previously summering at Brownlee LLP in 2021, Kara Shaw returned to our Calgary office in 2022 to conduct her articles before being called to the Alberta bar in 2023 and joining our team as an associate.

Kara is based out of our Calgary office, delivering legal services across multiple legal disciplines including our Insurance Litigation and Municipal Law practice groups.

“I love dealing with unique challenges and being able to use my critical thinking skills to problem solve,” Kara said.

During her tenure at law school, Kara applied her legal knowledge in volunteer work with Pro Bono Students Canada. She has served as the Vice-President of Finance for the Indigenous Law Club at the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Law.

In her free time, Kara is an avid hiker and climber, and enjoys downhill skiing.

WHY LAW

For as long as I can remember, I wanted to pursue a legal career. My desire to influence new and existing laws and policies is one of the main reasons I chose law.
