James Work joined Brownlee LLP’s Municipal, Administrative and Insurance Litigation teams after completing his articles with the firm in 2021. His area of focus is municipal insurance litigation.

While in the University of Alberta Juris Doctor program, he was an editorial board member of the Alberta Law Review, and completed an internship at the Court of Appeal of Alberta. 

James also worked as a research assistant examining municipal government jurisdiction over environmental issues.

Prior to attending law school, James previously worked for the Alberta Utilities Commission as a regulatory analyst, and completed a Masters’ degree in environmental and resource economics.

He also previously volunteered his time with Student Legal Services in Edmonton.

James enjoys reading fiction, snowboarding, and travelling.
