Adrian Jewell is a senior associate with the firm and has enjoyed an extensive municipal, public sector and administrative law practice over the years.
Adrian articled with the largest Alberta law firm, after graduating from the University of Alberta Faculty of Law, where he was awarded the Shoctor Prize in Law. Adrian has represented clients in a variety of disputes and has acted as counsel at all levels of Court in Alberta including King’s Bench and the Court of Appeal.
He has also appeared before administrative tribunals including the Land and Property Rights Tribunal (formerly the Municipal Government Board), Subdivision and Development Appeal Boards, the Environmental Appeals Board, among others. His experience has involved resolving disputes through arbitration, mediation, and judicial dispute resolution.
He has acted in some significant value assessment and taxation matters and has carried out an extensive practice on legal issues facing public sector governments, municipalities and school boards. He has been involved in legislative projects, advising on Bills and regulations in Alberta, and in infrastructure projects throughout the Province for affordable housing.
Adrian also practiced in-house as a senior Legal Officer at the Alberta Department of Justice, as well as Senior Counsel with two large national and publicly-traded corporations listed on the TSX. This combination of private practice and in-house experience enables him to work closely with clients to provide practical and efficient advice.
Adrian provides client solutions with value and responsive outcomes in mind. Adrian has been noted for his collaborative approach to problem-solving. He has also given legal presentations and advanced positions before legislative committees and administrative boards. He has taken on a number of leadership roles in legislative, policy, working committees, and mentoring junior lawyers.
