In this role, you will:

1. Support our lawyers and clients by conducting in-depth legal research relevant to court cases and hearings
2. Draft opinions, legal arguments, factums and submissions
3. Provide value-added reference services by evaluating, analyzing and summarizing information from a wide variety of sources.
4. Act as a resource for students and lawyers on research methodology
5. Attend and participate in various meetings with the practice groups

Key Competencies:

1. Juris Doctor or law degree; in good standing to practice law in a Canadian jurisdiction
2. 3 years of legal research experience with a Canadian law firm or equivalent experience (e.g. courts or government departments)
3. Comprehensive knowledge of law, legal systems and legal processes in Canada
4. Strong search skills using Quicklaw, WestlawNext Canada, as well as other related news, business, and legal databases
5. Ability to convey complex legal analyses in a practical manner
6. Be able to communicate clearly and concisely both in writing and verbally

1. Self-motivated, detail-oriented, entrepreneurial individual who has the ability to work independently
2. Strong time and project management skills are a must as the position entails work on multiple projects and includes time billing requirements
3. Approaches challenges with a sense of ownership, enthusiasm and initiative, focusing on client service excellence
