TELECOMMUNICATIONS
Brownlee helps Alberta’s provincial government and many municipal governments negotiate access agreements with telecommunication companies seeking right-of-way to build infrastructure.

To help our clients handle such negotiations, Brownlee provides advice for both legislative development and operational policy and procedure development.

EXPERIENCE BEFORE THE CRTC
We also represent our clients before the CRTC should telecommunication companies, in lieu of negotiation, apply for orders granting access to government lands for their intended infrastructure. Brownlee litigates to gain favourable terms and conditions of access for its clients, leveraging its knowledge of the Canadian Telecommunications Act.

Brownlee also counsels various groups who appear before the CRTC, including:

  • the Federation of Canadian Municipalities
  • the Association of Municipal Districts and Counties

MUNICIPAL TELECOMMUNICATION COMPANIES
Additionally, Brownlee advises clients embarking on the creation of their own telecommunication companies. Brownlee guides clients as they seek:

  • regulatory approvals
  • access agreements
  • other required documents
