Peter Gilchrist is a senior litigation associate well versed in complex litigation, construction and insurance claims. With over 30 years of experience, including 10 years during which he investigated several hundred claims against architects and engineers on behalf of professional liability insurers, Peter has developed an uncommon knowledge of construction’s practices and the issues which commonly arise between design construction teams.
Peter has appeared at all levels of the Court within Alberta as well as many administrative tribunals, and has participated in the resolution of lawsuits in numerous mediations. His current practice involves providing coverage opinions to and advancing subrogated claims for insurers, most often in the areas of products liability, professional liability, and construction-related claims. He is experienced in large loss litigation and claims arising from fire losses.
He is also engaged in the resolution of disputes arising out of additional work, extras or delays occurring on construction projects. Peter represents both insurers and contractors in complex claims involving allegations of faulty design or faulty workmanship on large construction projects. He has been involved in claims against architects, engineers, surveyors, accountants, investment advisers and other professionals for many years.
